Problem Solving and Mathematical Modelling
Review Article
Problem solving is one of the most important components of the human cognition that affects for ages the progress of the human society. Mathematical modelling is a special type of problem solving concerning problems related to science or everyday life situations. The present study is a review of the most important results reported in the literature from the 1950’s until nowadays on problem solving and mathematical modelling from the scope of Education. Its real goal is that it presents in a systematic way and in a few pages only the results of many years research on the subject. This helps the reader to get a comprehensive idea about a very important topic belonging to the core of Mathematics Education, which is very useful to those wanting to study deeper the subject and get directions for further research in the area.

Medical Education, Ethics, Educational Technologies, Research & Practice: Ethics in Medical Education and Practice-A Book Review
Book Review
Ethics in medical research and practice has been at the forefront and a matter of debate in recent times. There have been suggestions for the inclusion of ethics as a subject in the medical graduate curriculum. This could well be due to the increasing commercialization of healthcare services throughout the world, and especially in the developing world including India.

Influence of Children Safety on Delivery of Early Childhood Education, Mwatate Sub County, Taita Taveta County, Kenya
Original Research
Early Childhood Education has not been effective in most parts of the world, especially Sub Saharan Africa, and Kenya in particular; as it focuses mostly on the academic part and less effort is put conclusively to ensure comprehensive development of the child. This study sought to establish the influence of children safety on delivery of early childhood education. The specific objective of this study was to determine the influence of children safety on delivery of early childhood education in Mwatate Sub County, of Taita Taveta County in Kenya. The target population of this study was 6,217 individuals from which a sample size of 361. This research established a significant relationship between children safety and delivery of early childhood education. The study found that children safety influenced delivery of early childhood education positively by a 0.167 factor. The study established that children safety increased early school attendance and contributed significantly to their performance in schools. Unsafe school facilities endangered pupils’ life while in schools and lack of children safety makes some pupils to be late in school. The findings of this study would contribute greatly towards development of realistic value expectations for children. The researcher suggests more studies to be carried out in different counties to find out the validity and reliability of the study’s findings.

Enterprising Skills of Hospitality Management Students
Original Research
The offering of entrepreneurial spirit and skills is geared towards the development of initiatives towards work opportunity development and job creation. The avoidance of secularization and cultural heritage adherence of peoples in the countryside towards cultural pluralism in entrepreneurship is paramount to revitalizing the world’s entrepreneurial education. This study is designed to determine the essential enterprising skills of hospitality management students. Employing the descriptive-comparative research design to 155 hospitality management students, the following were known: the concordances of the hospitality management students to essential enterprising skills are not optimized. Moreover, comparable results on the respondents’ general enterprising skills were known when grouped by their sex, residence, and curriculum year. It was concluded that essential enterprising skills were seeded among the respondents but needed to be cultivated and developed to optimize their participation on job development and creation.

Academic Success and Weekend Study Time: Further Evidence from Public Elementary School Students
Original Research
While there is general belief that students who study during weekends is more likely to succeed academically, empirical evidence on this postulation happens to be very limited in the extant literature. We provide evidence on this postulated association between academic success, and weekend study time by comparing responses from public elementary school students. A Survey is conducted for fifth and sixth grade students who are happen to be more mature relative to prior grade school students. The findings show that in general weekend study time is positively associated with greater academic success. We also examine the role of parental support and find that parental support leads to less weekend study time. The findings are consistent with the view that weekend study time results in greater academic success and parental support creates more free time for students during weekends.

Factors Determining Mathematics Performance of High School Students: Implications for Teacher Education
Original Research
The alignment between the goals of pre-service education and that of in-service education is important. Institutions which offer a degree in education must constantly connect and understand the experiences of the teachers and learners in the elementary and secondary schools so that they can offer better undergraduate programs. This study explored how critical thinking skills of secondary students contribute to their Mathematics performance. There were 236 secondary student participants in this study from a private high school in Mindanao, Philippines. Correlational design was utilized in this study. A questionnaire was used to gather data on critical thinking skills of the students. The questionnaire has undergone Rasch analysis with reliability indices of .88 (high) for Part 1 and .77 (moderate) for Part 2 thus establishing preliminary evidence of construct validity. Using path analysis, the model showed that critical thinking skills significantly explained the Mathematics performance of the participants. The results called for a need to address the teaching of critical thinking skills among secondary students because this will benefit the facilitation of better Mathematics performance. Critical thinking skills must be taught alongside Mathematics content. Teachers carry out multiple roles of delivering the content at the same time honing the critical thinking skills of the students. Undergraduate education specifically for teacher education has an important role to play in preparing future teachers on how to develop critical thinking skills of their students. It is a two-way task of developing future teachers to be critical thinkers and teaching them how to teach such skills to their students so that when they are in the field of teaching, they teach both content and critical thinking skills.
